Terms of Service
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of the AI Braintrust Foundation website, member portal, memberships, Programs, Credentials, community features, AI Braintrust email services, Opportunities, and related services.
By creating an account, purchasing or accepting a membership, or using our services, you agree to these Terms.
1. About AI Braintrust Foundation
AI Braintrust Foundation is an Alberta non-profit organization based in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.
AI Braintrust operates a professional membership network focused on practical AI education, professional development, recognized credentials, community, and opportunities to apply AI skills in real settings.
AI Braintrust Foundation is not a registered charity. Payments to the Foundation do not qualify for official charitable donation receipts unless we expressly state otherwise following a change in our legal status.
2. Memberships
AI Braintrust currently offers Member, Pro, and Patron relationships.
The features, price, billing interval, and any specific requirements for a membership are shown on the website or checkout page before payment.
Member and Pro memberships may be recurring subscriptions. Unless the checkout page states otherwise, a recurring membership renews automatically at the stated billing interval until cancelled.
Patron relationships may be recurring, one-time, invoiced, grant-funded, or governed by a separate written agreement. If a separate Patron, grant, sponsorship, or funding agreement conflicts with these Terms, the specific written agreement controls for that relationship.
3. Membership standards
AI Braintrust is a professional network, not merely access purchased behind a paywall.
Some memberships, Programs, Credentials, Opportunities, or community privileges may require members to meet published participation, conduct, eligibility, performance, or completion standards.
We may restrict, suspend, or end access when a member materially breaches these Terms or a published code of conduct; abuses another member, staff member, partner, or community resource; acts fraudulently or misrepresents qualifications or evidence; creates security, legal, reputational, or operational risk; fails to meet a clearly disclosed requirement that applies to the relevant membership, Program, Credential, or Opportunity; or repeatedly uses the network in a manner inconsistent with its professional purpose.
Where a membership level has no ongoing participation requirement, inactivity alone will not create a new requirement that was not disclosed to the member.
Nothing in this section removes any non-waivable right you have under applicable law.
4. Programs and Credentials
Programs may be created by AI Braintrust or may incorporate material, examinations, platforms, or credentials provided by third parties.
Third-party providers may have their own terms, fees, eligibility rules, exam requirements, privacy practices, and certification standards.
AI Braintrust does not guarantee that a member will pass an examination, receive or retain a third-party certification, complete a Program, obtain employment, receive paid work, or be selected for an Opportunity.
Official third-party certifications remain subject to the issuing provider’s rules.
5. Opportunities and real-world work
AI Braintrust may make paid, equity, volunteer, project, collaboration, or other Opportunities visible to members.
An Opportunity is not a promise of work.
Selection may depend on qualifications, capability, availability, location, client requirements, project needs, fit, or other relevant factors.
Unless expressly agreed in writing, Foundation membership does not create an employment relationship, agency relationship, partnership, or entitlement to compensation.
Commercial client engagements may be handled by a separate organization, including AI Insight Collective, LLC, and may require a separate contract.
6. AI Braintrust email
Eligible members may receive an AI Braintrust email address or forwarding service.
You are responsible for choosing an appropriate address, keeping your forwarding destination current, using the service lawfully, and not using the service for spam, fraud, harassment, impersonation, malware, or unlawful activity.
Email routing and related services may depend on third-party infrastructure. We do not guarantee uninterrupted delivery or permanent retention of messages.
We may suspend or disable an AI Braintrust email address where necessary for security, abuse prevention, legal compliance, investigation, termination of membership, or operation of the service.
7. Fees, billing, and recurring payments
Prices are shown in the currency displayed at checkout.
When you purchase a recurring membership, you authorize us and our payment processor to charge the payment method you provide at the billing interval and amount disclosed at checkout until you cancel or the membership ends.
If pricing for an existing recurring membership changes, we will provide notice before the changed price is charged, except where a change results solely from taxes or another amount that applicable law permits to be adjusted without advance notice.
Payment processing is provided by Stripe or another payment provider we identify at checkout. We do not normally receive or store your complete payment-card number.
Taxes, if applicable, will be shown or handled as required by law.
8. Cancellation
You may cancel a recurring membership through the billing controls made available in your account or by contacting us at hello@aibraintrust.io.
Unless the checkout terms or a separate written agreement state otherwise, cancellation stops future renewals and takes effect at the end of the current paid billing period.
Your statutory cancellation rights, where applicable, are not limited by these Terms.
See our Refunds & Cancellations Policy for additional details.
9. Refunds
Membership fees are generally non-refundable once a billing period has started, except where required by law, where we charged you in error or more than once, where we expressly approve a refund, or where a separate written agreement provides otherwise.
We do not issue refunds merely because a member did not use available services during a paid billing period.
See the Refunds & Cancellations Policy for the complete process.
10. Patron support, grants, and funding
Patron support and other funding help AI Braintrust operate and expand its Programs, member development, community infrastructure, events, experiments, pilots, and related non-profit activities.
Unless we expressly state otherwise in a written agreement:
- Patron payments are not charitable donations;
- AI Braintrust does not issue official charitable donation receipts;
- recognition, briefings, introductions, access, or other Patron benefits are not guaranteed beyond what is specifically agreed; and
- restricted grants or funded projects are governed by the terms of the applicable grant or funding agreement.
11. Acceptable use
You must not use AI Braintrust services to violate law or another person’s rights; harass, threaten, exploit, or defraud others; misrepresent your identity, qualifications, work, evidence, or credentials; compromise another account or system; distribute malware or harmful code; send unlawful or abusive bulk communications; scrape, extract, or misuse private member information; or interfere with operation or security of the service.
We may investigate suspected misuse and take proportionate action, including removing content, restricting features, suspending access, or ending membership.
12. Member content and evidence
You retain ownership of material you submit to AI Braintrust.
You grant us a limited permission to host, process, display, transmit, and review that material as reasonably necessary to operate the service, verify Program or Credential progress, administer Opportunities, provide member features, enforce these Terms, and meet legal obligations.
Do not submit confidential client material, trade secrets, personal information about others, or third-party intellectual property unless you are authorized to do so.
13. Availability and changes to services
AI tools, provider programs, third-party certifications, integrations, pricing, and industry requirements change quickly.
We may add, remove, modify, retire, or replace Programs, features, integrations, or Credentials.
Where a material change affects an active paid membership, we will take reasonable steps to provide notice appropriate to the change.
We do not guarantee that any third-party service, certification, examination, integration, or Opportunity will remain available indefinitely.
14. Intellectual property
AI Braintrust’s name, branding, original website content, Program materials created by us, software, and other original materials are owned by AI Braintrust Foundation or used under licence.
You may use member materials for your personal or professional participation in the network but may not reproduce, sell, republish, or commercially exploit protected materials except where we expressly permit it.
Third-party names, trademarks, certifications, and materials remain the property of their respective owners.
15. No professional or employment guarantee
AI Braintrust provides education, professional development, community, credentials, and access to Opportunities.
We do not guarantee employment, income, business revenue, contracts, project placement, certification success, immigration or licensing outcomes, or any specific professional result.
Your outcomes depend on your own work, qualifications, circumstances, and third-party decisions.
16. Disclaimer and limitation of liability
We provide the service using reasonable care but cannot guarantee that every feature will always be available, uninterrupted, error-free, or suitable for every purpose.
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, AI Braintrust Foundation is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or purely economic losses arising from use of the service, third-party platforms, third-party certifications, member interactions, or Opportunities.
Where liability cannot lawfully be excluded, our liability will be limited only to the extent permitted by applicable law.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits rights or remedies that cannot legally be excluded or limited.
17. Privacy
Our Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, protect, and retain personal information.
By using the service, you acknowledge that personal information may be processed by service providers in Canada, the United States, or other jurisdictions, subject to the laws applicable there.
18. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time.
The current version and its effective date will be posted on this page.
If a change materially affects an active paid membership, we will provide reasonable notice where required or appropriate.
19. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Alberta and the federal laws of Canada applicable in Alberta, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
Any dispute that is properly brought before a court will be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of Alberta, except where applicable consumer or other mandatory law gives you a different right or forum.
Nothing in these Terms waives a right or protection that cannot lawfully be waived.
